Final Sketches (Contents)

After drawing my initial sketches I chose my top designs and drafted them neater to help me decide which one to use for my final cover:

Initial Sketches (Contents)

Similar to my magzaine cover, I have drafted some initial rough sketches of my contents page layout:

The Making Of My Cover

Originally I had used the same bold block font for all of the text, however I decided to use 'cracked' for the main band name to help it stand out in comparison to the rest of the text.

I also used the guides around the edge of my cover of around 0.5 - 1 cm to create the imaginary border similar to other covers.

Now with all of my text in place I tried out my various photos I had taken, to see which looked most suitable on my cover.

I really liked the idea of having my photo in black and white, however the masthead was lost using a black and white effect.

Also I realised that a lot of my text did not stand out enough in a dark grey and looked better in white and green as opposed to grey and green, and my main band title also did not stand out in green, so I will have to think about changing the colour of this for my final cover.

Mock-Up (Cover)

After I had drawn my initial sketches, I created my cover mock up to help me create my final cover.

Final Sketch (Cover)

After drafting some initial sketches of my magazine cover I picked my favourite and sketched it using colour so that I could decide what looked best, after this I will create my DTP Mock up of this chosen design.

Initial Sketches (Cover)

With my masthead chosen I began drafting some initial cover designs:

Now that I have roughly drafted some initial designs I will pick the two that I think are the most appealing and draft them on the computer, using Adobe Photoshop.

Photo Effects Tutorials

Now that I have taken my photos, I looked at various photoshop photo editing tutorials on youtube to help my create the best possible photos for my magazine, these are some of the ones that I found the most helpful.

My Photos

I have also used some photos I have previously taken at gigs and concerts as I thought they might be useful to use in the gigs section of my contents page.

My Photos

My Main Photos:

Here are some professional band photos that i found that I based some of my photos on:
I also took various photos of objects and items that I may use in my magazine for backgrounds or extra photos such as guitars, headphones, and amplifiers:

Masthead Designs

To help me with the production of my magazine I have sketched some initial masthead designs for my magazine, the main colourscheme of my magazine is going to be black white & green, so I have usedonly these colours when designing my masthead:

After I had sketched some initial ideas, I decided I wanted a more neat, clean
and professional looking masthead as opposed to a hectic masthead, so with that in mind I took my favourite initial sketches, and designed some neater mastheads on the computer:

Eventually I chose this masthead,
because I think it is simple
and neat, and will not draw attention away from any other part of the ,magazine, I also really liked the idea of having the first and lest letters larger than the rest, I think this is a really affective technique and it also ties in with the name of the magazine 'Amplifier'.
